Significant changes to the UK Building Safety Act 2022 were made in October 2023. This landmark legislation aims to revolutionise how buildings are designed, constructed, and managed, primarily focusing on enhancing safety and accountability across the sector.
As part of these reforms, a new duty-holder regime applies to all construction projects (subject to limited exceptions). This means that for most construction projects, a Principal Designer and Principal Contractor must be appointed, each carrying their own specific duties and competency requirements.
